The other night, Carlos and I went walking into the woods again. Actually, we were to feed the ducks and geese, since there’s this one lake in the nature reserve, where it’s allowed. If you ask me, feeding them is actually quite scary. The birds get so excited, and start walking towards you, brr.. Therefore the biggest birds (swans) haven’t gotten any breadcrumbs yet. And they might not, ’cause we are trying to find something more nutritious to feed them with.
Anyway, afterwards we continued wandering into another direction and discovered, that the nature reserve actually reaches a lot further than expected. Therefore it ended up being quite a long evening walk, but also quite amusing. There were little tiny tiny frogs jumping around and we found a fence full of fallow deer. Being close to home already, we discovered a bunch of fireflies living in the forest nearby. Was sweet.
After that, my evening-walks have doubled from 4 to 8 kilometers, as I’m learning new and new roads in the nature reserve. It’s so peaceful there and I enjoy the freedom of choosing my route everyday. Still, forest doesn’t feel the same as back home in Finland. It’s more leafy and full of weird plants (though I’m still only in Germany). Instead, the fields remind me a lot from my home-town and they smell the same too. Here’s a pic of one:
Been baking too – poppy bread, sunflower rolls, pancakes.. Next I should make a “Finnish birthdaycake” for Carlos’ friend. I wonder what that could be..
Ps. A map of the nature reserve can be found here.
