The place was beautiful, as always. This time we (me, my sister, her bf and their three-year-old child) spend the week around the area of Karesuvanto. Sweden was just a stone’s throw away and actually you could see it from our shore, right on the other side of the river. Spite that, I guess none of our stones really reached that far. I mean, ’cause we really tried – one of the best games to play was throwing stones into the water. I think we managed to conquer quite a piece of land for Finland.
One day we took a trip to go even further North. We visited Saana fjell – second time in my life. Anyway, I didn’t make it to the top this time, since the climb turned out to be too rough for the youngest of us (or more like, too rough for us to carry him all the way up there) and so I came back down with him. Well, just have to go back there once more, and anyway I still have Halti to take care of.. Or does one really want to go hiking in Finland? We drove further and crossed the border to Norway, and the fjells.. ..they sure look tempting to me.
Well, of course I spend some time hiking closer to our cabin. There was this war museum, Järämä, right next to us (with a café!) and I spend some time running in the threnches. I also found my way up the Nunas fjell (524m) twice and spotted eventually a pair reindeer, too! They were rare this time, but instead we had a bunch of Norway Lemmings running around the yard. Funny creatures, quite brave and talkative.
And that’s it for the holidays for this summer! Autumn will sure be exciting, as I’ll be done with my studies and new chapter of life begins. Luckily, that chapter will be a good one.
Next time something with yeast!
It’s hard to smile, when a reindeer might eat you any second..?
