So, spend few days in a bakery this week – or actually nights. Working from 2 am ’till we are done with everything, so approximately until 10 or 11 am. That suits me – leaves me the perfect sunshine-time of the day for taking walks!
And the bakery, it’s so cool being there! I finally get to bake lots. We measure ingredients, mix doughs, shape and cut breads, cover breads with seeds, place them into molds… …Prepare everything so that they are good to go into oven or proofing room. And the ovens are in the same room, on the other side. It’s such a cute little bakery.
We bake most of the stuff ourselves. Machine is pretty much needed only for shaping breadrolls – and ok, it does the major part of dough mixing as well. What matters is that there is still lots left to do with hands!
We also have a confectionery room where we make cakes and cookies. They are also decorated there together with some of the baking goods. Haven’t been on that side much yet. I did fry some doughnuts and made cookies, but would love to spend more time with the cakes and decorating, too.
Luckily it seems that I will be getting to spend lots more time over there. If I understood German correctly, I did get the education place. But, I’ll party about that only once I have some kind of a written proof about it. Pretty sure I got it, anyway.
And now then be studying German throughout the Summer and perhaps going for a longer hike in Lapland/Norway. And then in Autumn, I’ll finally become a Bäckerin!
Here are some cinnamon buns, which I hear are quite liked among our customers. I also got to make them few times. They keep saying workers are allowed to eat everything, but didn’t dare to. So instead I ended up buying some. They are yummy, remind me a lot from our Finnish cinnamon rolls. But these have also a secret ingredient in them, and now I can’t wait to try making some normal cinnamon rolls with that added. Hmm…
