Been few days back in Germany and have already had time to bake and cook lots of yummines. Was very happy to have my sister, her boyfriend and their son visiting us for couple of days. They got to see the area and city a bit, luckily having studied the map a bit themselves, ’cause obviously I still ain’t too good a tourist guide. Guess I ought to shopping a bit more without Carlos…
The weather was a bit rainy, so we also spent some time at our little apartment. Ate some pancakes and cakes, too, for it was my birthday after all. I made very traditional strawberry-banana-jam -cake for them with some whipped cream. Decorated it to look like such a princess cake, but was too eager to eat it, so I don’t have a picture to share.
But luckily I’ve got a picture of my other birthday cake, which I made in Finland. It was something not so traditional with white-chocolate-coffee -mousse inside, striped-rolled-cake for edges and meringue-whipped-cream and meringues with chocolate to go on the top. Both the cakes turned out delicious, and I don’t have much to complain about them. At the moment I just love creating new cake recipes, when I take my walks in the forest/park. Good balance, so that I don’t accidentally end up loosing too much weight. And I must say that watching Top Chef is quite inspiring, too.
Been also making other yummines. Today me and Carlos had a nice meal made out of some reindeer tenderloin, which my sis and co. gave us for Christmas present. Finally had room in my bag to bring it with me from Finland and it was definitely worth it. Just melts in your mouth, if you can say that about meat.
Made some breadrolls for evening. They have a bit of sourdough in them, it’s nicer to put the excess sourdough into baking than down the drain when feeding it.
And mead is fermenting, too. I’ll bottle it tomorrow!
