I baked something absolutely gorgeous this week. It’s probably the best sweet bun I’ve ever made or eaten. And believe it or not, it’s melon!
Well, it’s called melon bread – melon pan from it’s Japanese origin. Still, the only thing it has to do with actual melon is the looks (supposedly it reminds some melon type). Oh yeah, and if one would ever wish to, you could add melon flavor into it.
Short: It’s sweet bun with cookie dough on top. Took my recipe from here, and planning to post a version into this blog asap, as well. Don’t know does it have anything to do with the original ones, but does it matter, when they taste so superb!
Been trying out other things, too. Inspired by a co-worker, who has studied in München, I made some Bierstangen – Beer sticks. Also, spicy bread to go well with beer. Tasted good for a non-beer-drinkers, too. New flavors, for sure!
Been also enjoying bakings from others. Carlos and I visited my favorite confectionery again, and got a a nice cake lunch for 3€ altogether. Was sweet, though quite full of alcohol, too. What a great start for a day… then again, lunch time is already noon for a baker.
