So, all the ham is gone! From the fridge, I mean. The little freezer is still full of it. Our Christmas meal was quite simple then. Pig with pig. Made the traditional pig bread, always a must in Christmas.
Also had our own little Christmas tree. Decorated it with ginger-breads. Anyway had a ton of ginger-breads, for I made both German ones and Finnish ones. Finnish ones are so much yummier. German ones have ammonium, and I love eating the ginger-bread dough. And their spices are not that yummy either. And I’m a Finn so, guess that plays a part in it, too.
Baked the weirdest muffins of my life. Been wanting to try this recipe for ages. The muffins are called “snow blankets” so I’ve been just waiting ’till it’s the snowy time of the year to make them. Well, now it supposedly is. The muffin dough was quite weird. No eggs, just a lot of water. Didn’t work that well for me, and I think next time I’ll try something more traditional with the base. But the icing – cream cheese, sugar, egg and chocolate chips mixed together. Then the forms were filled with about 50/50 dough and icing and baked. Delicious. Not sure are they muffins, but something wicked they are. Quite sticky in you teeth.
Working on Sunday starting at 2 pm. – what a weird timing. And there is gonna be just two of us bakers. Hopefully I get the chance to learn something new then.
Ps. Thanks for all your presents. They’ve found their places in our home already.
