Being a birthday, I did let the birthday hero choose his cake. Didn’t take too much consideration to end up into Canada’s Best Cheesecake, and well – got to try out my own recipe. I just had to make it a bit more exciting by adding a layer of meringue on top. And then for a just a bit more excitement I had to be all artsy and make some sugar decorations on top, as well.
Well, should have stuck to the basic cheesecake. I hope it’s just the season, but this apartment clearly has too much humidity for both the meringue and the sugar decorations. Everything had melt through the night. So, soggy meringue and some broken sugar swirls. Happy birthday!
Tasted great, though, but I did miss the crispy meringue. Hopefully things are different in the summertime.
Today we enjoyed homemade hotdogs. Was about time again. Unfortunately I had to really rush the bread for taking a too long nap after work. Formed the buns right after kneading the dough. Left them to raise and headed downtown for a few hours. Came back and ta-da! Yeast had worked its magic. Delicious buns rich with milk and margarine, that’s the right basis for hotdogs. Gotta bake these soon again, then I’ll post the recipe. Now it was just too rushed.
Soon to Finland, huh. How cool is that!
